Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum term of a Rate Lock?

Any operation with a settlement date beyond T+2 is considered a forward. The minimum is 3 days and the maximum is 180 days.

What time window is available to contract a Rate Lock?

At any time, you can lock in a Rate Lock 24/7 on our platform.

Who executes the transaction?

The transaction is executed by Efex Inc. (U.S.), with Corpay as the underlying liquidity and pricing provider.

Why the 5% margin?

The margin exists to guarantee the operation throughout its duration. If the exchange rate moves against you, you may be required to deposit additional funds to keep the hedge active. That’s why it’s important to maintain available liquidity during the Rate Lock term; if the collateral balance falls below the required level, the operation may be suspended. It serves as your guarantee and ours that the hedge can be maintained until the settlement date.

What happens to the 5% at the end?

First, a 5% margin is retained at the time the Rate Lock is agreed. Then, before the agreed settlement date, you must deposit the remaining 95%. Once this deposit is made on time and in full, the retained 5% is added to the 95% to settle the transaction in its entirety. It is important to note that the margin is not returned, but is instead part of the final settlement.

In which currency is the margin applied?

The 5% margin is held in the source currency (the agreed currency pair). If your transaction is MXN to USD, the margin is calculated and reserved in pesos. If it is USD to MXN, it is reserved in dollars.

In which currencies can I lock in a Rate Lock?

You can lock in a Rate Lock from MXN to USD or vice versa.
